Student Project Ask

Basheer Graphic Book Store is a well-known name in the Singapore design community. While I was studying at Singapore, I have explored the place plenty of times finding it tedious and difficult to navigate through the rows of shelves in order to find a book of my choice like many others. Most of the times books would have been sold out or rented. As part of a college assignment, I wanted to device a solution for the bookstore driving it from my personal experience with the place and help reduce the hassle of finding a book and save time. This was also the first time I attempted an app design. 

The Solution

An app that provides details about the availability of a book for buying and renting purposes. Users can also provide reviews, check for availability in the store, raise demand and place an order. Filters were used to categorize books according to different genres. The app was also equipped with login and search features. One can place the order and pay for the books on the app in four simple steps. I also took a stab at rebranding the store with a new identity, colour and iconography for the app.

My Role & Responsibility​

• Understand the user journey and pain points through different methods like body storming

• Create UX design flows and sorting out the app functions

• Define visual language - logo design, fonts, image styles, colours etc.
